Description
Galloway Ridge will hold the Chatham County 8th annual Alzheimer’s Walk & 5K Run on September 15, 2018. The USA Track & Field (USATF) course will make its way from Galloway Ridge through Fearrington Village. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to attend the race, which will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association Eastern North Carolina chapter. The race will be the culmination of Galloway Ridge’s The Longest Day campaign, a series of events dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This community event will start with race registration at 7:00 a.m. and will feature vendors, refreshments, music and lots of fun. There will be a Fun Run and face-painting, for ages 3 through 13, staring at 8:00 a.m., and the official walk and run will start at Galloway Ridge at 8:30 a.m. Come enjoy the morning, and then stay for the awards ceremony, which will follow the race. The Chatham County 8th annual Alzheimer’s Walk & 5K Run is the largest Alzheimer’s fundraiser between Chatham and Orange counties. We call on participants of all ages and abilities to be a part of this inspiring event and join the fight against a disease that ranks as the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. The Alzheimer’s Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research in North Carolina, nationwide and globally. Here in North Carolina, the Alzheimer’s Association has been dedicated to serve the 170,000 North Carolinians diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and/or its related dementias, their caregivers and families. Their mission is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all those affected and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. “We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Galloway Ridge and its active and engaged residents of this beautiful Life Plan Community,” says Lisa Roberts, Executive Director for the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. “Our vision is a ‘World without Alzheimer’s,’ and the wellness culture established at Galloway Ridge has been a beacon in the community. We appreciate your commitment to inspiring meaningful and engaged lives through Galloway’s Lifecare and Brain Health programs that provide superior quality of life and care to its residents and community. With the long history of volunteering and community support at Galloway Ridge, we at the Alzheimer’s Association-Eastern North Carolina chapter are so excited to partner to promote wellness, education and community events that will improve and enhance care and support for all those we serve in the community.” Have a question?
