Photographers have a unique opportunity to have close access to native raptors in the natural setting of the NCBG. These beautiful bird species are made available by CLAWS, Inc., a local nonprofit organization dedicated to helping animals through education and rescue and rehabilitation. Participants visit several stations in small teams and have adequate time with each species to obtain quality images. CLAWS provides knowledgeable staff and volunteers at each station. Species available for photographs may include Great horned owl, Screech owl, Barred owl, Barn owl, Red-tailed hawk, Red-shouldered hawk, Coopers hawk, and American kestrel.
The North Carolina Botanical Garden (NCBG) is offering a variety of photography events this fall in conjunction with its ongoing Saving Our Birds exhibition.
