Description
After an initial info session this past Friday regarding the IFC’s FoodFirst plans, we’ve learned some important lessons and want to continue the conversation.
Please plan to join us and your fellow Carrboro businesses for a follow up meeting at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 16 at the Century Center.
In the course of our meeting this past Friday, we discovered there were four issues that attendees wanted to discuss:
- Businesses’ current experiences with the homeless, street people, and/or the IFC;
- How the Town of Carrboro communicates with businesses about process and opportunities to participate;
- The IFC's current plans and proposal for FoodFirst in downtown Carrboro; and
- What role the Chamber should play with respect to Food First and facilitating conversation and advocating for business.
On Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30pm, the Aldermen have the following item on the agenda: “Continued Discussion Land Use Ordinance Text Amendments related to establishing a new land use, Social Service Provider with Dining Facilities and Possible Request to set Future Public Hearing.” If they proceed with calling a public hearing on a text amendment, they will circulate the language to all advisory boards for comment and will hear feedback from the community at a public hearing to be called in late January at the earliest.
We hope to see you on Monday. RSVP is not required, but welcomed and encouraged.
