Effective Leadership - "Less but Better"
Leading a nonprofit is one of the toughest jobs you will ever love. We deal with limited time, endless opportunities and challenges, and never enough resources. As a leader, how do you prioritize and decide what you should be doing with your precious time? This interactive session will explore some of the most common challenges for nonprofit leaders and will provide ideas on how you can be a more effective leader by making the right choices.
Presenter: Lee Fogle
Lee is a talented professional with extensive experience in board relations, marketing, human resources and strategic planning. He began his career as an officer in the United States Air Force, where he excelled as a helicopter pilot and eventually became an instructor pilot. After leaving the Air Force, Lee began a long career in the credit union industry. He started as a branch manager at State Employees Credit Union, working his way to the position of city officer. He then worked as CEO of three different credit unions in North and South Carolina, ending his career with his retirement as the CEO of Duke University Federal Credit Union.
Lee’s success in strategic planning and management was recognized by several awards, including the National Association of Federal Credit Union’s 2002 Federal Credit Union of the Year Award. During his time at Duke University Federal Credit Union, Lee also served as a principal at Featherstone Planning and Development, where he provided executive coaching and strategic planning services and developed governance and succession plans for boards.
Lee has also served on a number of nonprofit boards. He was a trustee for Byerly Hospital in Hartsville, South Carolina, and served as the chair for the First Carolina Corporation Credit Union and the South Carolina Credit Union League. He was also chair of the board of visitors for Coker College in Hartsville.
A graduate of East Carolina University with a B.S. in Social Studies, Lee also earned certification from the executive coaching program at the University of Georgia.
